Taliban Foreign Minister Surrenders

The Taliban's foreign minister has turned himself in to US forces in Afghanistan - the highest-ranking official to do so, BBC reports Saturday.

The Taliban's foreign minister has turned himself in to US forces in Afghanistan - the highest-ranking official to do so, BBC reports Saturday.

Mullah Abdul Wakil Muttawakil surrendered in Kandahar. He was transferred to the US military base at the city's airport, where he is being held.

Omar Samad, a spokesman for the Afghan Foreign Ministry, said the interim Afghan government had been expecting Taliban officials to give themselves up.
