Vietnam Celebrates Lunar New Year

Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh visited cadres, people and armed forces in Nam Dinh province on February 5 and 6 on the occasion of the lunar New Year, the Year of the Horse.

Vietnamese Party General Secretary Nong Duc Manh visited cadres, people and armed forces in Nam Dinh province on February 5 and 6 on the occasion of the lunar New Year, the Year of the Horse.

The general secretary, during talks with key officials of the province, expressed his happiness that despite the difficulties in 2001, the Party Committee and people of Nam Dinh made great efforts to achieve all the 11 targets set by the 16th provincial Party Congress, especially in food production and positive changes in industry. Secretary General Nong Duc Manh stressed that, this year, Nam Dinh should particularly focus on economic development and Party building, the two key tasks.

The general secretary wished Party members and people of Nam Dinh province a Happy New Year to obtain the targets set at the Ninth National Party Congress and the 16th provincial Party Congress. He also called at the Nam Dinh Textile Company, praising the achievements of the company in the national renovation process. The company has created jobs for 7,000 people with an average monthly salary of VND 500,000.

During his stay in Nam Dinh, the general secretary visited and offered incense to Tran Kings at the Tran dynasty��s historical and cultural site in the suburb of Nam Dinh city. He called at the family of Ms Tran Thi Vy, aged 72, 40-year-Party member, whose husband and two children sacrificed their lives during the wars.
