Premier Zhu Meets King of Morocco

The visit of King Mohammed VI of Morocco to China turns a new page in the history of bilateral relations, Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji said Wednesday.

The visit of King Mohammed VI of Morocco to China turns a new page in the history of bilateral relations, Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji said Wednesday.

During his meeting with visiting King Mohammed VI of Morocco at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, Zhu said the Chinese President Jiang Zemin and the King of Morocco held intensive talks and reached a consensus of opinion on the further development of bilateral relations.

Zhu was satisfied with the smooth progress of and the rich returns from bilateral cooperation in such fields as politics and economy over recent years.

Noting that the two countries are faced with similar tasks in developing their national economies to fit in with the general trend of globalization, he said both countries want to raise bilateral economic and trade cooperation to a new level.

Zhu also said China's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) has brought many new opportunities for bilateral trade and economic cooperation. He said companies and businesses from the two countries now have closer contact. He believes that friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries will bear rich fruit.

King Mohammed VI said bilateral relations have entered a new stage in recent years. He hoped that the Chinese government and Chinese businesses will widen their participation in the economic development in Morocco.
