People from different cultures should respect and learn from each other and work together. At thesame time, they should keep their own traditions and characteristics, Li Ruihuan said Wednesday.
People from different cultures should respect and learn from each other and work together. At thesame time, they should keep their own traditions and characteristics, Li Ruihuan said Wednesday.
Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remark during his meeting with visiting King Mohammed VI of Morocco at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Li said it is wrong for anyone to impose one's faith and values on others and doing so would be detrimental to peace and progress.
He hoped that China and Morocco would strengthen cooperation and have more exchanges on issues which contribute to the progress of human civilization.
He said the two countries have had a long and soundly based friendship and fruitful cooperation in many areas even though they are a long way away from each other and have different social
systems.
King Mohammed VI agreed with Li's view that each country should maintain its historical heritage and culture. He said the people of Morocco admire China's history and its long period of civilization. At the same time, the people of Morocco treasure their own national traditions and characteristics and will use all means to preserve and further develop them.
