NPC Chairman Meets King of Morocco
China will send a high-ranking delegation to attend the 107th Conference of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) to be held in Morocco in March, the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Li Peng said Wednesday.

Meeting with visiting King Mohammed VI of Morocco at the Great Hall of the People, Li said that Vice-Chairman of the NPC Standing Committee Cheng Siwei will be the head of the Chinese delegation to the IPU Conference.
Li said that inter-parliamentary exchanges make up an important part of bilateral relations and China will increase exchange visits and cooperation between the NPC and the parliament of Morocco. He believes this will promote friendly relations between the two countries.
Speaking of the situation in Africa, Li said China expects the countries in the continent to choose their own path of development according to their individual situations.
King Mohammed VI said contact and communication between the leaders of the two countries is important for the development of bilateral relations. He agreed with Li's views about the situation in Africa, saying that the national characteristics and religious and cultural traditions of African countries should be fully respected.
