China to Achieve Better Results and Make More Friends in Salt Lake City
China will try to achieve better results and make more friends at the upcoming Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games. Sending a 133-member delegation, the biggest one since China made its debut at the Winter Olympics in 1980, the Chinese will strive hard to end their gold drought at the Winter Games and their hope lied in short track speed skating, figure skating and free style skiing aerials.

Try to achieve better results
China will try to achieve better results and make more friends at the upcoming Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games, said a senior Chinese official Tuesday at Salt Lake City of Utah.
"Our athletes have prepared for the Salt Lake City Games for four years and they worked really hard," said Li Furong, deputy chef-de-mission of the Chinese Sports Delegation, who arrived here Tuesday evening. "During the same time, China's winter sports have made great progress."
"Hopefully we can have sound performance, achieve better results at the Games and make more friends."
Sending here a 133-member delegation, the biggest one since China made its debut at the Winter Olympics in 1980, the Chinese will strive hard to end their gold drought at the Winter Games and their hope lied in short track speed skating, figure skating and free style skiing aerials.
At the Nagano Games four years ago, China collected six silvers and two bronzes but failed to snatch a single gold medal.
Li, who is also vice president of the Chinese Olympic Committee, expressed his appreciation to about 50 local Chinese who gave the delegation a warm welcome on their arrival.
"It was a long journey, but their warm welcome relieved my fatigue," he said.
38 events of seven sports ahead
Chinese athletes will compete in 38 events of seven sports including speed skating, short-track speed skating, figure skating, women's ice hockey, biathlon, cross-country skiing and free-style skiing at the Games, which is to open on Friday.
Yuan Weimin, chef-de-mission of the Chinese Sports Delegation and president of the Chinese Olympic Committee, has arrived earlier to make presentation to the 113th IOC Session as executive president of the Beijing Organizing Committee of 2008 Olympic Games (BOCOG).
Among the twenty-six delegation members arriving Tuesday were men's figure skaters, cross-country skiers, coaches, doctors and some officials while other teams had left China in early January for pre-game training in Canada and the United States.
