China's First Non-Polluting Electric Bus Proves a Success
A new type of electric bus, the first of its kind in China, has been jointly developed by three Chinese auto companies.

With the same exterior as an ordinary bus, the electric bus, 3.66 meters high, 2.45 meters wide and 12 meters long, can carry 60 passengers.

The core technology for this bus is an advanced capacitor, which developers say will not discharge any pollutant because it uses no chemicals, and is ideal for cities.

When connected to a 380-volt electrical source, the capacitor can be completely recharged within 15 minutes and can drive the fully-loaded bus for 30 kilometers at a speed of 45 kilometers perhour.

Traditionally, an electromagnetic charger takes at least five hours to complete the charging.

The new vehicle was jointly developed by engineers from Harbin Jurong Group Company, Harbin Electric Automobile Company and Heilongjiang Passenger Car Plant, all in northeastern China.
