President Jiang Meets Lao PM

Chinese President Jiang Zemin met with Lao Prime Minister Boungnang Vorachit in Beijing Tuesday afternoon.

Chinese President Jiang Zemin met with Lao Prime Minister Boungnang Vorachit in Beijing Tuesday afternoon.

Jiang said that he is pleased to see that the Chinese and Lao prime ministers held fruitful talks Monday, reaching consensus on cooperation in all fields.

He said that Sino-Lao relations continue to develop with frequent contacts between the leaders. The two sides have supported each other in international and regional affairs.

He noted that China, as always, will attach importance to developing good-neighborly relations with Laos.

Jiang said that both China and Laos adhere to the leadership of the party and socialism, and are developing long-term and good- neighborly relations conforming to the wishes of the people. This is in their mutual interest, and is conducive to regional peace and development.

He said that Laos has scored achievements in all fields and has maintained social stability and economic development.

He believes that under the rule of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Lao people will overcome difficulties and the country will prosper.

Boungnang Vorachit said that the rapid growth of China's economy shows the wise leadership of the Chinese Communist Party.

He said that China's long-term aid towards Laos has been helpful. He expressed gratitude for China's help, saying that Laos implement the joint statement signed by the two states in 2000.
