Senior Chinese leader Wei Jianxing Tuesday visited the families of well-known deceased national model workers in Beijing.
During his visit to the families of the deceased model workers, Wei, a member of the Standing Committe of the Political Bureau of the Chinese Communist Party Central Committee, called on society to try to emulate and respect model workers.
Wei said the leadership of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the Chinese government attach great importance to the well- being of model workers.
Wei, also chairman of the Executive Committee of All-China Federation of Trade Unions, urged all members of society to have lofty ideals and to behave in an exemplary manner when pursuing the Socialist market economy.
Trade unions at all levels should ensure model workers and those who have retired have adequate living and working conditions.
Among those accompanying Wei was Jia Qinglin, secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee.
