BOCOG President Reconfirms Committment to Best ever Games
Beijing organisers made its first official appearance before all members of the International Olympic Committee on Monday, reconfirming its commitment to delivering a best ever games in 2008.

Liu Qi, president of Beijing Organising Committee of the Olympic Games (BOCOG), said that soon after the Chinese capital was chosen to host the 2008 Olympic Games, they started thinking about how they can best fulfil their promises to stage a great games in Beijing.
"To host excellent games, we will materialize the three themes of Green Olympics, High-tech Olympics and People's Olympics," said Liu, also Beijing Mayor, at Salt Lake City of Utah.
Under the themes, Beijing will put emphasis on environmental protection of the Games, applying the most sophisticated technologies to the organisation and put on an athlete-oriented games with a strong flavor of Chinese culture.
While providing the best conditions for the Olympic family, Liu said that Beijing also attaches great importance to the post-games usage of Olympic facilities and financial prudence in venues construction and games operation.
He said that Beijing organising committe has started working with the IOC to develop the Master Plan, which will detail numerous tasks organisers are expected to complete during the seven-year buildup to the Games.
And at the same time, Beijing municipality is touching up the Olympic Action Plan which covers eight major themes including venues construction, environmental protection, culture, and public security, said Liu.
He added that the Chinese central government and Beijing municipality has also adopted resolutions to protect the Olympics- related intellectual property rights.
Beijing established its organising committee last December, five months after being chosen to host the Games, and got down to business for the Games.
"This is the first step in a long distance," said Liu.
He added that Beijing will work closely with the International Olympic Committee, international individual sports federations and National Olympic Committees while honoring the commitments they have made during the bid stage.
"We are fully confident of hosting an excellent games in 2008," he concluded.
