According to the report of January 29, 2002 released in Beijing this year will see the city put in RMB 169 billion for winding up some projects of importance and set off the projects for 2008 Olympic Games including the city��s infrastructure construction and reconstruction of old and dangerous houses. This was made known to the public by Liu Qi, mayor of Beijing at the 5th Session of the 11th People��s Congress of Beijing Municipality.

This year will witness Beijing implement in full the ��Program for Olympic Games��, i.e. in line with the principle of openness, equality and fairness to push full steam ahead the preparatory work for the 2008 Olympic Games by bring the market mechanism and international model of operation into full play.
