China Praises Cambodia's Insistence on One China Policy

Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan said in Beijing on Tuesday at a regular press conference that China praised Cambodia for its insistence on the "One China" policy.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Kong Quan said in Beijing on Tuesday at a regular press conference that China praised Cambodia for its insistence on the "One China" policy.

A government announcement issued recently by Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen says Cambodia will insist on the One China policyand devote itself to the development of traditional bilateral relations.

It says Cambodia objects to any kind of activity designed to separate Taiwan from China. The announcement bans all Cambodian government officials and civil servants from official contact withTaiwan.

Kong said the actions by the Cambodian government would promotethe healthy development of Sino-Cambodian relations. China believes that the Cambodian government will stick to the One Chinapolicy and support China's peaceful reunification, he added.
