China's first ever 300,000-ton oil tanker, 330 meters long and 58 meters wide and a remarkable type of VLCC (very large crude oil carrier), will be delivered to Iran this April, making China the third country in the world to possess a shipbuilding capacity of 300,000 tons after Japan and the Republicof Korea.
China's first ever 300,000-ton oil tanker, a remarkable type of VLCC, will be delivered to Iran this April, said sources with the work conference of China Shipbuilding Industry Cooperation (CSIC) Tuesday in Beijing.
The construction of the huge ship, 330 meters long and 58 meters wide, began in August 2000, and was completed in November 2001, making China the third country in the world to possess a shipbuilding capacity of 300,000 tons after Japan and the Republicof Korea.
The giant oil tanker was built by China's largest shipbuilder Dalian New Shipbuilding Heavy Industry Co., Ltd in northeast China's Liaoning province, which is also a branch of the CSIC group.
The ship was ordered by the National Iranian Tanker Company, which has ordered five of the same type of oil tanker from the Chinese shipbuilder.
The completion and delivery of the oil tanker will boost the ties between CSIC and the world shipbuilding and shipping circles.
Up to now, CSIC has built crude oil carriers, bulk carriers, chemical product carriers, container ships, RoRo ships, work ships, and offshore platforms for shipowners in more than 50 countries and regions, including Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Germany and China, and conducted friendly cooperation with the advanced shipbuilding of VLCC, LNG carriers and other high-tech ships.
