Japanese Official: Vegetable Imports from China Healthy
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan announced January 28 that vegetables imported from China are in accord with the criteria of Japan's hygienic codes governing foods. Tests by concerned authoritative Japanese departments show the news reports by Japanese media that vegetables from China contain pesticides are not true.

The said ministry indicated that its Consuming and Technological Center didn't find anything of their media-reported pesticide against the criteria of Japan's food hygienic codes after sampled examination and tests made of 8 categories and 36 kinds vegetables from China, South Korea and Thailand from December, 2001.
