The procuratorate of the capital of east China's Zhejiang Province has recently settled the largest ever case of embezzlement in the province, involving a total of 13.8 million yuan (1.7 million U.S. dollars).
The procuratorate found, after investigation, that Lin Li, 42, an import manager of a local state-owned light industrial products import-export company, had collaborated with his assistant Huang Lirong, aged 47, to embezzle, in 20 separate cases, the company's foreign currencies worth 13.8 million yuan between 1992 and 1994.
Huang escaped when the crime was discovered but was arrested a few months later, the procuratorate said.
The procuratorate is going to bring the case to court soon, sources said.
