Afghanistan's interim leader Hamid Karzai will leave here Saturday night for the United States at the invitation of the U.S. President George W. Bush, spokesman for the interim administration Yusuf Nuristani told Xinhua.

Karzai is scheduled to address the United Nations Security Council in New York after a meeting with Bush on Monday.

The two sides are likely to discuss about Afghanistan's reconstruction and the U.S. campaign to flush out the remnants of the al-Qaeda terrorism network.

Distribution of U.S. relief and other assistance to Afghanistan will also probably be on the agenda.

U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell paid a visit to Kabul last week and Afghanistan Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah is in the United States, talking to senior Bush administration officials to set the stage for Karzai's visit.
