Pakistan to Have Elections to National and Provincial Assemblies in October: Musharraf
Pakistani President General Pervez Musharraf said Thursday that elections to the National Assembly and provincial assemblies will be held in October this year.

Musharraf made the announcement while addressing the inaugural session of the Pakistan Human Development Forum.
"We will fine tune the democracy according to our own requirements," he said, adding that democracy is not constant, it can be adjusted and readjusted in accordance with the needs.
Check and balances at the leadership level are the demand of democracy here, he maintained.
Musharraf said consistency and continuity of all the reforms and restructuring introduced in three years span will be ensured and nobody can reverse them.
Musharraf said that the strategic focus, effectively pursued by the government, has four important planks including economic revival, poverty alleviation, good governance and political restructuring.
He stressed that economic revival is the linchpin of the strategic focus towards restructuring Pakistan.
