Developing friendly relations between China and Egypt has a sound basis and broad prospects as the two countries share identical or similar views on many major international issues, a senior Chinese leader said Thursday.

Li Ruihuan, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) made the remarkat a meeting with visiting Egyptian President Muhammed Hosni Mubarak.
Both China and Egypt have a long history and are working to develop their economy and improve their people's living standards.They also share identical or similar views on many major international issues, he said.
On the current situation of the Middle East, Li said China sincerely hopes the parties concerned will make concerted efforts to resolve contradictions and existing problems in a just and rational manner.
Mubarak said the frequent exchange of visits between leaders ofthe two countries has ensured the smooth development of bilateral ties.
He said his current visit has been very successful, believing that Egypt-China cooperation will improve through the concerted efforts of the two sides.
