Personnel of sci-tech professions and management in Zhongguancun, known as China's Silicon Valley, will have an easier time exiting and entering China beginning next month.
The announcement was made here Tuesday by the Entry-Exit Management Division of the Beijing Bureau of Public Security.
Zhang Shuying, director of the division, told Xinhua that the new policy aims to attract more overseas capital and top professionals to Beijing's high-tech industries by providing simplified and easy services.
According to the new policy, foreign senior engineers and managers along with their families will be granted one to three-year residential permits and return visas based on their work permits. Their visas can be extended accordingly.
For foreigners in Beijing with investments of over 10 million U.S. dollars, a five-year residential permit and return visa will be issued.
Meanwhile, those entering China with visas for traveling and visiting purposes will be permitted to change to working visas when certified by their Chinese employers.
Foreign experts who need to enter China urgently can process visa documents at the capital airport with certificates issued by the administrative committee of Zhongguancun Science Park.
Employees who leave for Hong Kong and Macao on business trips will be awarded permits without any restrictions.
In addition, employees mentioned above will also enjoy the privilege of being granted urgent visas.
