HK Financial Secretary Stresses Importance of Eco-Business

Hong Kong Financial Secretary Antony Leung stressed the importance of eco-business in achieving economic benefits at the 2001 Hong Kong Eco-Business Awards Presentation Ceremony Monday.

Hong Kong Financial Secretary Antony Leung stressed the importance of eco-business in achieving economic benefits at the 2001 Hong Kong Eco-Business Awards Presentation Ceremony Monday.

Leung said that organizations which have implemented environmental management measures are experiencing real economic benefits. With environmental-friendly office practices, staff can enjoy a cleaner and more comfortable working environment.

Through the establishment of an Eco-Business image, organizations can enhance customer satisfaction and gain communityacceptance, and green management practices can accompany other operational change initiatives with a view to achieving realizablesavings in production and overhead costs.

"All these are real economic benefits that will help strengthenthe overall competitiveness of businesses," he said.

The 2001 Hong Kong Eco-Business Awards was jointly organized bythe Environmental Campaign Committee, the Hong Kong Chinese General Chamber of Commerce, the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce and the Hong Kong Productivity Council.
