China Sichuan-Hanoi Trade Fair Opens

Southwest China's Sichuan province is seeking opportunities of economic-commercial cooperation with Vietnam by opening The 2002 China Sichuan-Hanoi Trade Fair in Vietnam's capital Hanoi on Saturday morning.

The fair, sponsored by the Sichuan government and Vietnamese Trade Ministry, aims to further strengthen the economic cooperation between Sichuan and Vietnam.

The fair is attended by over 100 companies from 8 cities of Sichuan and with exhibits of more than 1,000 kinds of products including machinery, electronics, textiles, garments and minerals.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Fair, Vice Secretary- General of Sichuan People's Government Yang Gangcai said that the fair is an important move of Sichuan to promote economic- commercial cooperation between Sichuan and Vietnam, strengthening Sino-Vietnamese traditional friendship and boosting the economic development of both Sichuan province and Vietnam.

Addressing the ceremony, Vietnam's Deputy Trade Minister Ho Huan Nghiem said he hopes the fair will be an opportunities for the entrepreneurs of both sides to exchange views and promote cooperation, striving to make the bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and China in 2005 reach the target of 5 billion U.S. dollars.

The trading turnover between Sichuan and Vietnam reached 28.38 million U.S. dollars last year.
