China, Kazakhstan to Further Border Defense Cooperation

The signing of the China-Kazakhstan border defense agreement has not only provided the legal guarantee for their border defense cooperation, but also has laid a foundation for the two countries to fight against the "three vices", terrorism, separatism and extremism, in order to promote the further development of bilateral good-neighborly friendship and cooperation in the new century.

The signing of the China-Kazakhstan border defense agreement has not only provided the legal guarantee for their border defense cooperation, but also has laid a foundation for the two countries to fight against the "three vices", terrorism, separatism and extremism, in order to promote the further development of bilateral good-neighborly friendship and cooperation in the new century.

Fu Quanyou, member of China's Central Military Commission and chief of the General Staff of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), made the remarks in Beijing Friday at a meeting with a delegation from the Border Guard of Kazakhstan led by its Deputy Chief and Chief of the Main Staff Husain Berkaliev.

Fu said that the Chinese government attaches great importance to the establishment of mutual trust and the development of friendship and cooperation with its neighbors and has almost completely solved historiic border issues with most neighbors.

It has also signed agreements with many neighbors on border management and border defense cooperation, added Fu.

He spoke highly the smooth settlement of the China-Kazakhstan border issue, the increasing political mutual trust between the two sides and their smooth cooperation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the crackdown on the "three vices", as terrorism in particular being grave threat to regional security.

Berkaliev spoke of the good relations between the two countries and the two armed forces and said that cooperation between their border forces has contributed to their fight against the "three

vices" and to the peace and tranquility in their border areas.

The signing of this agreement will further strengthen bilateral exchanges and cooperation in border defense and help maintain lasting stability and peace in their border areas, noted Berkaliev.

The delegation is here as guest of the PLA Headquarters of the General Staff.

During the visit, the Deputy Chief of the PLA General Staff Kui Fulin and signed the bilateral border defense cooperation agreement with Kazakh side.
