Confidence in HKSAR Government Improves
A latest survey conducted by a policy research institute shows that Hong Kong residents' confidence in the performance of the chief executive and the SAR government have gone up notably by 17 percent and 18 percent, respectively.
A latest survey conducted by a policy research institute shows that Hong Kong residents' confidence in the performance of the chief executive and the SAR government have gone up notably by 17 percent and 18 percent, respectively.
Confidence in the performance of chief executive Tung Chee Hwa reached 105.3 points while confidence in the performance of the SAR government reached 92.3 points, according to the survey conducted by the Hong Kong Policy Research Institute Ltd. on January 7 to 10, 2002.
The index on "Political Prospect of Hong Kong" increased by 9.2 percent to 83.4 points, as compared with the figure in last December. The indices on "Press Freedom," Hong Kong Judicial System" and "Democratic Development" increased 1.4 percent, 2.1 percent and 1.0 percent to 100.2 points, 96.8 points and 78.3 points, respectively.
The respondents' confidence in "Political Relationship Between Chinese Mainland and Hong Kong" and "One Country, Two Systems" also increased by 4.1 percent and 5.0 percent, respectively, the survey shows.
