Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji's visit to India has been a success and has greatly advanced relations between China and India, said the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi Thursday.
Sun made the remark when asked to comment on Zhu's India tour, which is to end Friday.
"The visit has enhanced the friendship between China and India, increased bilateral understanding and trust, and promoted exchange and cooperation in wide ranging fields," he said.
During the talks and meetings between Zhu and Indian leaders, both sides agreed that China and India have much more consensus than disagreement, much more common interests than differences, according to Sun.
Both sides stressed that any disputes between them will not affect the normal development of bilateral ties and they should resort to friendly consultation to resolve such disputes, Sun said.
Sun said during the premier's tour, China and India signed six cooperative documents dealing with sectors involving tourism, peaceful development of outer space, water conservancy, science and culture.
China has decided to open a regular flight between Beijing and Delhi starting from late March.
On relations between India and Pakistan, Zhu has repeated China 's position on the issue, noting that as a friendly neighbor of both countries, China sincerely hopes both sides can resolve their disputes through consultation and other peaceful methods, according to Sun.
Zhu has been in India for four days at the invitation of his Indian counterpart Vajpayee and will be back home Friday.
