Premier Zhu Meets Indian Parliament Leader
Visiting Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Indian during his meeting with Indian Parliament Leader Tuesday in New Delhi. Both sides stressed the great importance for promoting deeper mutual understanding and cooperation, adding that the world's two most populated countries would gain substantially from each other's experiences.

Premier strongly against terrorism
Visiting Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji strongly condemned the terrorist attack on Indian parliament on December 13, last year, during his meeting with Ganti Mohanachandra Balayogi, speaker of Lok Sabha, the lower house of Indian parliament, Tuesday in New Delhi.
Zhu Rongji expressed support to the international struggle against terrorism as the two countries agreed to establish an anti- terrorist dialogue mechanism.
The premier conveyed cordial greetings from Li Peng, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, who visited India early 1999.
Good bilateral relations between China and India
Zhu, who arrived here on Sunday for a 6-day state visit, told Balayogi that he experienced the friendship of the Indian people to China during his stay in the neighboring country.

Sources in the Indian parliament said that Zhu emphasized the need for enhanced and direct contacts between the two countries at various levels particularly between parliaments of the two countries.
It was necessary for promoting deeper mutual understanding and cooperation, Zhu said, adding that the world's two most populated countries would gain substantially from each other's experiences.
Balayogi told the Chinese leader that India attached considerable importance to the development of a long-term cooperative relationship with China based on the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence and mutual sensitivity and equality.
Prior to the meeting, Zhu Rongji met Najma Heptulla, deputy chairperson of Rajya Sabha, the upper house of Indian parliament, during which he expressed his thanks to Heptulla for her constructive contribution to the enhanced relationship between the parliaments of the two countries.
Zhu also met Sonia Gandhi, president of the Indian National Congress Party.
Terrorist Attack on the Parliament of India
Terrorists on December 13, 2001 attacked the Parliament of India resulting in a 45-minute gun battle in which 9 policemen and parliament staffer were killed. All the five terrorists were also killed by the security forces and were identified as Pakistani nationals. China and India's bilateral political relations and cooperation in economic and cultural exchanges
At the invitation of the Speaker of the Indian Lok Sabha Barayoji and Chairman of the Rajya Sabha Khant, Li Peng paid an official goodwill visit to India, from January 9-17, 2001. During the visit, Chairman Li Peng made broad contacts with the Indian leaders and personalities of various circles and exchanged views with them on how to enhance Sino-Indian friendship and cooperation and reached many consensus.
This visit realized the goal of increasing understanding, promoting friendship and strengthening cooperation, promoted the exchanges and cooperation between China and India and between the Chinese National People��s Congress and the Indian Parliament and further pushed Sino-Indian friendly relations of good-neighborliness to move forward in a sustained, healthy and steady manner in the new century.>>details
