Visiting Chinese Premier Zhu Rongji met with Indian Vice President Krishan Kant Monday in New Delhi, reiterating Chinese government's stand against terrorism.
During the two leaders' meeting, Kant, who is also Chairman of Rajya Sabha, or upper house of the Indian Parliament, condemned the December 13 terrorist attack on India's Parliament building in New Delhi. He also thanked the Chinese government and people for the compassion they had expressed following the incident.
Zhu told the Vice President that China has always opposed to terrorism in all forms, no matter when or where it occurs or whom it is directed against. China also holds that the international community should enhance cooperation in its fight against terrorism and should take steps to root out terrorism.
Both leaders also agreed that China and India should further increase high-level contact and exchanges at various levels to promote mutual understanding. Inter-parliamentary cooperation is an important part of country-to-country relations and therefore should be further strengthened, they said.
