US Secretary of State ColinPowell Sunday spoke to Indian External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh over the phone and discussed with him the statement made by Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf as well as his visit to the region next week.

Replying to questions at a press conference here, Singh said India looked forward to Powell's visit but dismissed suggestions that it was any sort of mediation or intervention on Indo-Pak issues.

Nations will be interested in developments in the region but that does not mean "intervention in other's affairs," the Press Trust of India quoted Singh as saying.
