East China Province's Exports Grow by 12 Percent in 2001
The eastern province of Jiangsu,one of China's major exporters, reported a 12 percent increase in exports for 2001, according to the provincial foreign trade department.

Statistics show that the province's exports were valued at 28.87 billion U.S. dollars last year, and imports 22.48 billion US dollars, up 13.1 and 12.1 percent from a year earlier respectively.
The province's export value makes up nearly one-tenth of the nation's total.
Overseas-funded enterprises remain the pillar of export growth,as they exported 15.1 billion U.S. dollars last year, accounting for 57 percent of the province's total.
Exports of new and hi-tech products also take up a large proportion -- nearly one-quarter of the province's total, according to sources.
