A China-made digital video chip obtained a certification on its compatibility with Microsoft XP application platform on Friday, sources said.
Zhongxing Micro-electronic Co. Ltd., designer of the certified Starlight I chip, is the first Chinese enterprise to win Microsoftcertification.
A cooperation memorandum was signed between Zhongxing and Microsoft, aimed to further promote the global application of multi-media digital video technology.
According to the memorandum, the two parties will continue to upgrade the chip and conduct relevant compatibility tests.
Meanwhile, Microsoft will introduce Zhongxing products to global clients as well as promote the application of broad-band multi-media video technology on the Windows XP platform.
A Microsoft senior manager said that the Zhongxing product willserve the needs of communication and video traces between distant computer terminals.
Deng Zhonghan, Zhongxing chairman, said that cooperation with the world giant Microsoft will help Zhongxing, a Chinese IT new power founded in 1999, to develop more multi-media solutions and product varieties.
Experts say that the cooperation constitutes a new model for Chinese IT businesses to tap into the global market helped by China's entry into the World Trade Organization.
