ICBC Savings Deposits Top 2 Trillion Yuan
The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC) reported Thursday that its savings deposits currently total 2.15 trillion yuan (262.19 billion U.S. dollars).

The savings deposits in renminbi, the Chinese currency, have increased by 184.2 billion yuan while that in foreign currencies is up 971 million U.S. dollars, an ICBC spokesman said.
The ICBC also granted a consumer loans worth a total 48.8 billion yuan last year, excluding housing loans. About 23.8 billion yuan had been borrowed as consumer loans by the end of last year, a rise of 4.7 billion yuan over 2000.
The bank has worked hard to improve its services for individuals last year, he said. The ICBC has enhanced the cooperation with securities houses and insurance companies to provide various financial services.
The ICBC was among the four state-owned commercial banks in China with total assets worth of 4 trillion yuan.
