China to Reopen Embassy in Afghanistan Soon: FM Spokesman
China will soon reopen its embassy in Afghanistan and send representatives to attend a meeting of countries providing humanitarian aid to Afghanistan slated in Tokyo this month, said Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi Thursday.

Sun said at a regular press conference that the working group from the Chinese Foreign Ministry has attended the ceremony marking the transfer of power to the Afghan interim government.
"Members of the group have met with Chairman Hamid Karzai, Foreign Minister Abdullah Abdullah and other principal officials of the interim government," Sun said.
The group also made contacts with the U.N. Secretary-General's Special Representative for Afghanistan Lakhdar Brahimi and officials from other countries in Afghanistan, he said.
"The group is making necessary preparations for the reopening of the Chinese embassy in Afghanistan."
The spokesman said that as a friendly neighbor of Afghanistan, China is always concerned about and attaches importance to the post-war reconstruction of Afghanistan.
China has sent representatives to international conferences on humanitarian aid to Afghanistan and on the post-war reconstructionof the country, and will send representatives to the Tokyo meeting,he said.
