Price of Passat to Drop by 20,000 Yuan

Price of Passat is expected to fall to 225,000 yuan each within this month from the original 245,000 yuan. In the meantime, Shanghai Volkswagen will also slash the price of other Passat models, with the reduction estimated at 20,000 yuan, this is the first price-cut made by the company after China's entry into the WTO.

Passat to cut prices of all types

Many car sellers said that Shanghai Volkswagen held a conference on car price reduction a few days ago, the price cut involves almost all types of Passat, especially those old models, such as Passat 1.8T, the range of price reduction stands at about 20,000 yuan per unit, the new price will surface by late January or early February.

When consumers pinned their hopes on Shanghai Volkswagen's other models, no one had imagined that the price-cut news came out first from the name brand Passat.

Price reduction closely related with China's WTO entry

According to an analysis, the price reduction of Passat is closely related to China's WTO entry, prices of imported cars have generally come down after China's accession to the WTO, domestically-made cars priced at 200,000-300,000 yuan each do not have much superiority compared with imported ones.

According to car sellers, cars priced at 200,000-300,000 yuan per unit have the widest space for price cut.

Hongqi, Mazda (Hainan) announced price reduction several days ago, the cheapest Hongqi is sold at 220,000 yuan, the price for Mazda is also reduced to 220,000 yuan.

Price cut-- good choice for Passat

After Passat rolled off the production line, it faced pressure from Buick and other luxury cars, it also sustained pressure from other new economical cars, Passat is placed behind Buick and some other quality cars in many sales agencies, but price reduction is a good choice for Passat.

Buyers now can get Passat (its quotation price is at 245,000 yuan ) at a price of 235,000 yuan or even cheaper.

As early as last month, Passat showed signs of price reduction, Shanghai Volkswagen actually gives Passat sellers much room for price adjustment.
