Reception Marks 10th Anniversary of Ties between China, Five Central Asian Nations
A reception was held Wednesday to mark the 10th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan.
President Chen Haosu of the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, the reception's host, said China and the five countries cherish a long history of friendship. Since the forging of diplomatic ties ten years ago, they have established friendly and cooperative bilateral relations, carrying out fruitful cooperation in economy, trade, technology, culture and education.
The formation of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the contribution they made to the regional security and development while solving the Afghan issue also demonstrates the successful international cooperation between China and the five countries, Chen said.
Addressing the reception, ambassadors and counselors to China from the five nations also spoke highly of the accomplishments in the cooperation between their respective countries and China, and pledged their efforts to further promote the friendly bilateral ties.
China's State Councilor Ismail Amat attended the reception and met with the envoys prior to the occasion.
