Cambodia, China to Strengthen Traditional Friendship

Cambodia and China would strengthen their traditional friendship between the two nations, top legislators of Cambodia said Tuesday in Phnom Penh.

Cambodia and China would strengthen their traditional friendship between the two nations, top legislators of Cambodia said Tuesday in Phnom Penh.

Senate President Chea Sim and National Assembly President Norodom Ranariddh made the remarks Tuesday when meeting separatelywith visiting Nie Ronggui, chairman of the Sichuan provincial Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

They all noted that the two countries would consolidate and develop the traditional friendly relationship, which was ushered by King Norodom Sihanouk and the Chinese leaders of the three old generations.

Chea Sim said that the legislation authorities of the two countries would continue to enhance their cooperation in the future. Meanwhile, he thanked the Chinese government for its assistance to the Cambodian Senate.

Ranariddh noted that the Royal government and the parliament will abide by the "One China" policy.

He welcomed the Chinese enterprisers from Sichuan province to invest in Cambodia, in the meantime, Nie Ronggui invited Ranariddhto visit Sichuan province at his convenience.

During the visit, the Chinese delegation headed by Nie held discussions respectively with the Commission of Finance and Banking at the National Assembly and the Phnom Penh Chamber of Commerce on possible cooperation in a wide-range area.

The delegation, which arrived in Cambodia on Sunday for an official visit, is scheduled to conclude the visit on Wednesday.
