Dalian Wins Chinese Inhabitation Prize

The Ministry of Construction on January 7 issued two prizes: inhabitation environment prize and a model prize for inhabitation. Shenzhen and other 4 cities included, altogether some 28 items for air qulaity and environment pollution were selected.

According to reports, these have been the first of their kinds awarded in China.

The two prizes will be awarded once a year, it is to be decided by the Ministry of Construction by way of soliciting recommendation from various provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities.

Personal with the construction ministry said that the two prizes aim to honor cities, counties or companies who have made great contributions in improving environment quality, overall functions of cities and creating good habitation environment.

It is also for promoting sustained development and improving people's inhabitation environment.

China to Award Human Settlement Environment Prizes

China will set up annual Human Settlement Environment Award through public appraisal from this year on to honor cities, counties, organizations and individuals that have made outstanding contributions to human settlement environment improvement, sources report from the Ministry of Construction.

Outstanding China Human Settlement Environment Award winners will be recommended to United Nations Center for Human Settlement for "UNCHS Human Settlement Award" and "Dubai's International Best Practices to Improve the Living Environment", according to authoritative report. Full Story
