FM Spokesman on SCO Foreign Ministers Conference
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi introduced the significance and major topics ofthe upcoming Irregular Foreign Ministers Conference of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Friday.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Sun Yuxi introduced the significance and major topics ofthe upcoming Irregular Foreign Ministers Conference of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Friday.
Sun said that the conference, to be held here January 7, 2002, will be the first foreign ministers conference since the establishment of the SCO.
He added that the conference will be meaningful for promoting SCO's development and planning its future work.
He stressed that, especially in the present complex international and regional situations, the conference will help the members of the SCO to adjust their stances and steps upon someurgent issues and make joint efforts to maintain regional safety and stability.
According to Sun, the conference will include discussions on issues such as the Afghan situation, the international anti-terrorism drive, combating the "three forces" of separatism, terrorism and extremism in the region, as well as SCO's development.
