More Returned Overseas Chinese Students Starting Businesses
The Fourth Guangzhou Scienceand Technology Exchange Fair for Chinese Overseas Students closed Sunday in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, with fruitful cooperation projects.
The Fourth Guangzhou Scienceand Technology Exchange Fair for Chinese Overseas Students closed Sunday in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, with fruitful cooperation projects.
More than 2,600 Chinese students, who are studying in or have returned from the United States, Canada, Britain, Japan, Germany and other countries and regions, attended the three-day fair and reached over 1,000 co-operation agreements with domestic investorsin the bio-pharmaceutical, information technology, environmental protection, new materials, energy and other high-tech industries.
This is just one example of an increasing number of Chinese students studying abroad who are choosing to start up businesses in China after graduation.
China has 60 business development parks for returned students. Statistics show that these students have set up nearly 4,000 scientific and technological businesses, which have had returns of10 billion yuan (about 1.2 billion U.S. dollars).
Of the 380,000 Chinese students who are studying abroad at present, 140,000 have come back to China and the figure is increasing at an annual rate of 13 percent, according to statistics from the Ministry of Education.
China's increasing economic strength, the attraction of preferential policies and a better investment environment have encouraged elite students to put their knowledge and experience onoffer at the fourth Guangzhou fair
Returned students have made remarkable achievements in China intheir fields with some even becoming leaders in China's top science and technology research institutions.
Experts believe that China's open human resource policy which concentrates on making the most of top professionals' wisdom and skills will attract not only overseas Chinese students, but also other overseas professionals who will contribute to the country's future advancement.
