A senior official of the Communist Party of China (CPC) has urged CPC committees and organizational departments at all levels to follow the "Three Represent's" theory of General Secretary Jiang Zemin.

Zeng Qinghong, head of the Organizational Department of the CPC Central Committee, made the call Friday at a national conference attended by officials of provincial-level CPC committees in charge of organizational work.

Zeng, who is an alternate member of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau and a member of the CPC Central Committee Secretariat, called for making excellent achievements to welcome the 16th Party Congress scheduled to be convened next year.

In 2002, the Party will face heavy tasks in its organizational work, focusing on the preparations for the forthcoming Party congress, formation of the new Party leadership, and building the Party style, Zeng said.

Top priority will be given to the political criterion, the official said, stressing that cadres who will be offered leading positions at different levels are those who are politically and professionally qualified; possess good political quality, educational background and organizational ability; have done an outstanding job; and are endorsed by the people.
