Autonomous Region is expected to score 885 million yuan in tax revenue this year, an increase of 70 million yuan over last year.
Up until the end of November, the region had collected 820 million yuan in tax revenue, up 11 percent on a yearly basis.
An official from the local taxation department attributed the good performance to the introduction of the co-ordinated service system offered by government departments, improved efficiency and heavy penalties for tax evasion.
The last five years were the most profitable in Tibet's economic development. The tax revenue for 2000 alone was 815 million yuan, 17 percent more than the previous year.
The proportion of tax revenue in Tibet's gross domestic product grew from 5.7 percent in 1995 to seven percent of last year.
