Beijing to Take 10 Measures for Traffic Control

The Public Security Traffic Administrative Bureau of Beijing Municipality has lately listed altogether 53 road sections as traffic jams and hereby drawn up 10 measures for guaranteeing a flowing and orderly traffic in the metropolis.

The Public Security Traffic Administrative Bureau of Beijing Municipality has lately listed altogether 53 road sections as traffic jams and hereby drawn up 10 measures for guaranteeing a flowing and orderly traffic in the metropolis.

The traffic jams are mainly caused by the sharply increased autos, not enough roads in the shopping center, unsuited traffic signal facilities, and a flock of building sites as well.

Contents of the 10 measures

According to the bureau director Li Jianhua, the departments concerned will take 10 measures to tackle the traffic woes. The 10 measures are as follows:

    1.   To strictly rectify the road traffic order and stop the drive           breaking traffic regulations;

    2.   To deal with road traffic accidents fleetly;

    3.   To increase the number of patrol spots;

    4.   To help drivers select the best routes via high-tech means;

    5.   To increase the number of traffic controllers;

    6.   To optimize the road traffic signal facilities;

    7.   To rebuild some crossings;

    8.   To optimize the bus routes and readjust the unreasonable           bus stops;

    9.   To strengthen the management of parking order;

    10. To strengthen the management of road-occupying            construction sites.

Extent of Liability: The Public Security Traffic Administration Bureau of Beijing Municipality is responsible for the management of urban and rural road traffic, the general objectives of its work is: Guarantee of safety, flowing and orderly traffic. It undertakes the following five major tasks:

Conduct of road management by force of law, including order management, command of traffic shipment, traffic security and accident prevention.

Conduct of socialized propagation and education on traffic safety.

Being responsible for management on drivers of vehicle and automotive.

Being responsible for manufacture, installation, maintenance and management of road traffic signal facilities.

Dealing with road traffic accidents by force of law.
