Beijing Welcomes International Investment in Zhongguancun

Liu Qi, mayor of Beijing, told visiting AT&T Vice President Dr. S. Yee Lee that he hopes more international investments flow into Zhongguancun Science Park.

Liu Qi, mayor of Beijing, told visiting AT&T Vice President Dr. S. Yee Lee that he hopes more international investments flow into Zhongguancun Science Park.

Liu said that high technology has become a pillar industry in Beijing. Currently, there are some 10,000 enterprises inZhongguancun, dubbed China's Silicon Valley.

Citing that 18 transnational corporations including IBM and TOSHIBA have established their research and development centers in the capital, the mayor said he welcomes more of them to invest in Beijing.

Dr. Lee expressed his wish to attract professionals from China and to establish a business partnership with Beijing.
