Qinhuangdao Port, in north China's Hebei Province, handled 112 million tons of goods in the first 11 months of this year.
It is the first time that the port has handled more than 100 million tons of goods, which makes it a major world port.
The port is mainly responsible for transporting coal from north China, the main coal producer of the country, to southern China.
To increase its capacity, the port has spent 1.46 billion yuan this year in building a 100,000-ton navigational channel and upgrading all the docks and other infrastructure facilities.
