The establishment of grass-roots organizations the Communist Party of China (CPC) will not affect the normal business operations of Taiwanese-invested companies on the mainland, a spokesman with the State Council's Taiwan Affairs Office said Wednesday.

These CPC grass-roots organizations are established in line with the Party's Constitution by company employees who are CPC members, said spokesman Zhang Mingqing at a press conference.

Such organizations are also found in many foreign-invested enterprises, and they have no negative effects on the business operations of these companies, Zhang said.

It is ridiculous for some Taiwanese to make a fuss about this issue, Zhang added.

"They are either ignorant of the truth or are being malicious by saying that we want to turn businessmen from Taiwan into CPC members," Zhang said.
