Mongolian Parliament Passes New Immigration Law
The Mongolian State Great Hural (parliament) on Wednesday passed a new immigration law that will allow 90 immigrants into the country each year until 2004.
The Mongolian State Great Hural (parliament) on Wednesday passed a new immigration law that will allow 90 immigrants into the country each year until 2004.
Under the law, the number of immigrants or foreign inhabitants who stay more than five years or permanently in Mongolia can amount to one percent of the country's total population, and thosefrom a single country can reach up to 0.33 percent.
Mongolia now has a total of 3,122 immigrants, foreign nationalsand stateless persons, or 0.13 percent of its total population. Of these, about 1,520 come from China and nearly 1,480 from Russia.
