Beijing to Ensure Sufficient City Budgetary Input for Olympics: Mayor

Mayor of Beijing Liu Qi said on December 24 that the municipal government will ensure sufficient city budgetary input for the 2008 Olympic Game but new market-oriented ways in raising funds are also welcome.

Mayor of Beijing Liu Qi said on December 24 that the municipal government will ensure sufficient city budgetary input for the 2008 Olympic Game but new market-oriented ways in raising funds are also welcome.

Speaking at the city's annual economic working conference, Liu affirmed that the Beijing municipal government will step up its supervision over the process of money-raising and facility construction to prevent any risks and corruption.

He also called on planners not to lavish money on massive construction of stadiums.
