China sets up Good Example for Asian Countries: Bangladeshi General
Bangladeshi Army Chief M Harun-Ar-Rashid said Sunday in Dhaka that with great successes both in economic development and maintaining of internal stability, China has now became a strong power in the world. Bangladeshi hopes to further strenghten the good relationships and cooperations with China on the basis of mutual understanding.
Bangladesh Army Chief appreciated good relations with China
Chief of Army Staff Lieutenant General M Harun-Ar-Rashid said Sunday in Dhaka that with great successes both in economic development and maintaining of internal stability, China has now became a strong power in the world and set up a good example for the Asian countries.
The Army chief made the remarks when the visiting 6-member Chinese military delegation headed by Deputy Chief of General Staff of the People's Liberation Army of China Lieutenant General Zhang Li called on him at the Army Headquarters. Rashid appreciated the good relations between China and Bangladesh and expressed his confidence that the cooperation between the two countries as well as two armies will be further strengthened on the basis of equality and mutual respect.
Two-side heads called for a peaceful circumstance
Talking on the present tense situation between India and Pakistan, Rashid expressed the hope that the two countries could resolve their dispute through negotiation for maintaining peace and stability in the region.
Lieutenant General Zhang Li said that a peaceful circumstance is necessary for both China and Bangladesh which, as developing countries, are facing the same challenges in economic development and improving of people's living standards.
The Chinese general said that China opposes hegemonism and power politics, stands for establishment of a new international order on the basis of just and peace.
He expressed thanks to Bangladesh for its consistent support to China on Taiwan and human right issues, saying that China has attached importance to the traditional good relations and cooperation between China and Bangladesh which will not only be accord with the interests of the two peoples but also be conducive to maintaining regional peace and stability.
The Chinese military delegation also called on Chief of the Naval Staff Rear Admiral A Taher and Chief of the Air Staff Air Vice Marshal M Rafiqul Islam.
Political Relations between China and Bangladesh
The People's Republic of China and the People's Republic of Bangladesh officially established diplomatic relations on October 4, 1975. Since then the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries have been growing soundly and smoothly. Fruitful cooperation has been achieved in the fields of politics, economy, military and culture, etc. Both the countries share basically identical opinions on most international and regional issues and conduct close coordination with each other in the international arena. There have existed between China and Bangladesh frequent exchanges of high-level visits, increasing contacts as well as expanding cooperation in various fields.
