An exhibition showing the blood-curdling incidents caused by the Falun Gong cult opened Friday morning in Lhasa, capital of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region.

The first day of the exhibition attracted more than 200 local ethnic officials, students and residents, who were given interpretation in both Chinese and Tibetan language.

Gou Tianlin, a local official in charge of ethic progress work, said that the exhibition will improve people's awareness of the need to fight against evil cults worldwide, including the notorious Falun Gong cult.

The week-long event is expected to attract 3,500 visitors, the official said, adding that the exhibition is meant to encourage people to uphold justice and maintain social stability while eliminating insidious elements such as cults and superstition.

The three-part exhibition details cases of Falun Gong practitioners' tragic experiences, presents information on major international evil cults and how other governments deal with them, and explains the Chinese government's measures taken against FalunGong.

The exhibition was jointly hosted by the department of publicity of the Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC), the office for cultural and ideological progress under the committee, and the autonomous regional department of culture.
