South Korea Thursday urged the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to resume inter-Korean dialogue.

Inter-Korean dialogue and cooperation are urgent tasks for the pursuit of national security, dignity and prosperity and maintaining cooperation with the international community, said a spokesman of the South Korean Unification Ministry.

"For the sake of the Declaration, inter-Korean dialogue should be resumed with no strings attached. Once again we urge the North to move toward dialogue and make clear that the South is fully prepared to tackle inter-Korean issues through dialogue for the sake of inter-Korean development," said the spokesman.

Last Monday, the DPRK Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland called on South Korea to take "decisive measures" to normalize inter-Korean relations.

In the statement, its also said issues, including the military alert in South Korean, can be addressed through dialogue based on the spirit of mutual understanding and respect and the future of inter-Korean ties is wholly dependent on South Korean attitude.
