FM Spokeswoman on Pakistani President's Visit to China

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf's visit to China will contribute to the advancement of the comprehensive, cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan in the future, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said Thursday at a press conference.

Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf's visit to China will contribute to the advancement of the comprehensive, cooperative partnership between China and Pakistan in the future, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue said Thursday at a press conference.

The President is here at the invitation of Chinese President Jiang Zemin, and during his stay in China, President Jiang Zemin, Chairman of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee Li Peng, Premier Zhu Rongji, and vice-president Hu Jintao will meet him respectively to exchange views on Sino-Pakistani relations and other regional and international issues ofcommon concern.

China and Pakistan enjoy long-term and traditional friendly ties, and are close neighbors. The bilateral relations between thetwo countries have been progressing well since diplomatic ties were forged 50 years ago, said Zhang.

Zhang noted that Musharraf's state visit to China will bring the activities cerebrating the 50th anniversary of diplomatic tiesto a climax, and will end this year's commemorative events on a high note.
