Jiang Zemin's Relief Sculpture Unveiled in Macao

A relief sculpture bearing inscriptions of Chinese President Jiang Zemin was unveiled Thursday at Macao's Hou Kong Middle School, as a key activity heldby the school to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland.

A relief sculpture bearing inscriptions of Chinese President Jiang Zemin was unveiled Thursday at Macao's Hou Kong Middle School, as a key activity heldby the school to celebrate the 2nd anniversary of Macao's return to the motherland.

Jiang wrote inscriptions urging the school to train more talented students on December 20, 2000 when he attended the celebrations on the 1st anniversary of Macao's return and inspected Hou Kong Middle School.

The sculpture also features the national flag, Jiang's head sculpture, two students' head sculptures, photos of parts of the school and a letter Jiang wrote to the school, with a length of 6.8 meters and a height of 4.4 meters.

A grand flag-raising ceremony was held before the sculpture wasunveiled by Chief Executive Edmund Ho Hau Wah of the Macao SpecialAdministrative Region and Ma Man Kei, vice-chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC).

Present at the ceremony were principal officials of the SAR government and about 1,000 teachers and students from the school.
